Two-time 57kg world champion Zaur UGUEV (RUS) will make his Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games as he claimed the gold medal at the 2019 World Championships to qualify the Russian Federation. The 5'2" wrestler has been on a sensational run at the international level since failing to medal at the 2017 World Championships, winning 12 gold, 2 silver and a bronze medal in 15 appearances. A former cadet world champion, Uguev will be seeded second behind Steven MICIC (SRB) at the Olympics having collected ranking points at the World Championships. In 2020, Uguev participated in the Individual World Cup and outscored his opponents 45-1 during his gold-medal winning run. Uguev is also a four-time Russian national champion.
